About Lara Mulcahy
Lara Mulcahy is an award-winning actress and entertainer who has delighted audiences worldwide with her magnetic talent, humour and energy. A WAAPA graduate with over 20 years in show business, Lara’s larger-than-life personality, impeccable comic timing and acclaimed acting talents are testimony to her continued success today.
Lara received rave reviews for her role as Rosie in the original Australian Cast of Mamma Mia! Recognised for her outstanding performance, she won the Green Room Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, as well as a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Actress! Personally invited to recreate her role on the West-End, Lara gained media attention when she was part of the Mamma Mia! 5th Anniversary performance with ABBA in attendance. She also performed her role in front of HRH Prince Charles for the re-opening of the Prince of Wales Theatre. Lara was also invited back in 2019 to perform on stage in London for the 20th Anniversary celebration of the show.
Lara is one of few actors who has featured in three Baz Luhrmann films including; Natalie in Strictly Ballroom; Mome Fromage in Moulin Rouge (S.A.G nomination “Best Ensemble” ) and box-office hit The Great Gatsby.
Lara starred as Madame Thenardier in Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables.
In recent years Lara has been on the road with her bestie Rhonda Burchmore in their sell out shows “ABBA-Solutely Fabulous!” and “Partners In Crime” touring all around Australia.
Lara can also been seen as the landlady in the Bruce Beresford film “Ladies In Black”
Lara is currently writing her first screenplay !
